Izeni P. Farias

Izeni is Co-I and a collaborator in the ABC Expeditions project, in the field of genetics.

Izeni P. Farias holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Amazonas (1987), a Master's degree in Freshwater Biology and Inland Fisheries from the National Institute for Amazon Research (1992), and a PhD in Biological Sciences (Molecular Genetics) from the Federal University of Pará (2000). She was a post-doctoral fellow (CNPq 2015) at Brigham Young University. She created the Tissue Collection of Animal Genetics CTGA/UFAM in which she was curator during the period from 2004 to 2013. She is a Full Professor at UFAM, where she coordinates the Laboratory of Evolution and Animal Genetics (LEGAL). She is part of the editorial board of the journal Acta Amazonica and Frontiers in Genetics. She is part of the permanent faculty of graduate courses BIONORTE and Zoology / UFAM, and Genetics Conservation and Evolutionary Biology / INPA, and is a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow (1D). She has experience in genetics, with emphasis on animal genetics, population genetics, conservation genetics and molecular ecology, focusing mainly on issues related to vertebrates of the Amazon.
