He is a collaborator in the ABC Expeditions project, in the field of herpetology.
Igor Luis Kaefer holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM, 2008) and a PhD in Biology (Ecology) from the National Institute of Amazonian Research (INPA, 2012). Since 2013 he is a full professor at the Department of Biology, Institute of Biological Sciences, Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), where he is coordinator of the Ecology Area, member of the scientific committee of the Institutional Programme of Scholarships for Scientific Initiation (PIBIC) and integrates the faculty of the Postgraduate Programme in Zoology. He is also a member of the faculty and the coordinating council of the Graduate Program in Ecology at INPA. He is an associate editor of the international journal Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências. He was an affiliate member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (2015 to 2019) and is a research productivity fellow at CNPq (2017-present). He has experience in animal biology, with an emphasis on herpetology, working mainly on the following topics: ecology, natural history, behaviour, taxonomy, biogeography and evolution.
