Alexandre Vasconcellos

He is a collaborator in the ABC Expeditions project, in the field of termitology.

Alexandre Vasconcellos holds a degree (1997), a Master's degree (1999) and a doctorate degree (2003) in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of ParaĆ­ba (UFPB). He is accredited in the Postgraduate Program in Zoology (UFPB, Masterā€™s and PhD), and is coordinator (2015-2017 and 2022-2023) and vice-coordinator (2013-2014) of the PPGCB-Zoo (Concept 5). He is Associate Editor of the journals Sociobiology/ISSN 0361-6525 (Section - Termites) and Ethnobiology and Conservation/ISSN 2238-4782. He is curator of the Isoptera Collection and coordinator of the Laboratory of Termitology at UFPB (LabTermes). He develops projects on termite ecology and biogeography, soil ecology and ecology of decomposition, mainly in areas of Caatinga, Atlantic Forest and Amazon Rainforest. He is coordinator for the funded projects (2022-current): "Biodiversity of ParaĆ­ba: Status, Threats and Opportunities"; "Genetic variability of termites (Blattodea: Isoptera) in fragments of Atlantic Forest: the permeability of the urban matrix"; and "The Termites of ParaĆ­ba: Biodiversity, Biomass, Pest Status and Importance for the Functioning of Ecosystems.
