Pilar is a field coordinator and researcher in the ABC Expeditions project, in the field of ornithology.
Pilar L. M. Braga has a degree in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM, 2012), and is a specialist in Environmental Management, Licensing and Auditing, from the North University of Paraná (UNOPAR, 2014). She has a Master’s (2019) and is currently a doctoral candidate in Ecology at the National Institute for Amazon Research (INPA). She worked as an environmental monitor at the Conservation Unit Biribiri State Park (State Forestry Institute-MG), where she gained experience in the management of conservation units. She also worked as a biologist in the same body, working on the receipt of species seized by trafficking, authorizations for wild fauna breeding grounds and environmental licensing in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Since 2014, she has been working as an independent professional in the area of environmental consultancy, working on licensing processes, preparation of reports for environmental agencies, coordination of environmental studies, avifauna inventories and fauna rescue. She is a researcher in the areas of ornithology, historical biogeography, community ecology and bird conservation.
