Paulo Apóstolo Costa Lima Assunção
Field technician
Until Paulo Boca's death in 2020, we had the great privilege to benefit from his experience, knowledge, and company during his participation in the ABC Expeditions project, in the field of botany.
Paulo Apóstolo Costa Lima Assunção (Boca) was a botanist, active in the identification of Amazonian plants since 1986. He started his career at the National Institute for Research in the Amazon (INPA), with the Project Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments (PDBFF), when he became a great expert on the Lecythidaceae family. He participated and is co-author of the book 'Flora da Reserva Ducke ' (INPA-DFID), one of the most important references on Amazonian plants. Since 1999, he worked as an independent consultant, always in plant identification and floristic inventories, supporting research projects, environmental impact reports, management plans, etc.
