João is a researcher in the ABC Expeditions project, in the field of herpetology.
João Paulo de Oliveira Xavier has a degree in Biological Sciences and in Science and Technology from the Federal University of ABC (UFABC). During his undergraduate studies, he investigated the incidence and consequences of blood parasites, as well as histopathological changes in anuran amphibians of the Atlantic Forest, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Vanessa Kruth Verdade. At the same time, he developed works in the area of Science and Biology Teaching. Currently, he is studying the effects of fragmentation of the natural environment for anuran amphibians of the Atlantic Forest, as a Master's student in the Graduate Program in Ecology at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). His main research interests are forest fragmentation, landscape ecology, conservation and amphibian ecology.
